Available in three plan levels – Discover, Accelerate, and Scale – SmartAsset AMP allows advisors to access referral generation, nurture campaigns, technology assisted calling and automated texting, and live connections – all for a simple monthly subscription.

How we help consumers

SmartAsset offers a variety of tools and educational resources to empower you on your path toward financial well-being and goal achievement, including financial advisor matches, as well as calculators, tools and educational resources for everything from home buying to retirement.

*The estimated AUM closed by advisors from SmartAsset referrals is based on the number of matches made between validated investors reporting over $25K in investable assets and advisors in 2025. Further, the calculation assumes: a 3% close rate (based on data collected from partners and industry benchmarks) and an average amount of assets per household of $1.26M, that was calculated from self-reported asset ranges in the advisor matching survey. The calculation is: Valid Matches*Average Assets Per Household*3% Conversion Rate.

Michael Carvin

Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder

Michael Carvin founded SmartAsset with a simple idea: the sophisticated financial tools used by institutions should be accessible to everyone. Drawing on his background in private equity and financial decision-making, he built the foundation for a platform designed to help people make smarter, more informed financial choices. Today, Michael leads SmartAsset’s strategy and growth as the company continues its mission of empowering consumers to achieve financial well-being. Michael is a graduate of Princeton University.

Dave Jones

Chief Financial Officer

Dave Jones serves as SmartAsset’s Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the company’s finance and accounting functions. He brings more than 30 years of experience across public accounting and private industry, with deep expertise in scaling high-growth organizations, driving operational excellence, and building financial strategies that support sustainable, profitable growth. Prior to joining SmartAsset, Dave served as Chief Financial Officer at Vroom. A Certified Public Accountant and graduate of Seton Hall University, Dave lives in New Jersey with his wife and two daughters.

Peter Silvio

Chief Technology Officer

Peter Silvio brings more than 20 years of industry experience to SmartAsset, most recently serving as Chief Technology Officer at Shutterstock. Peter first joined Shutterstock in 2017 as VP of Engineering and Architecture, where he led the engineering organization. In 2019, he was promoted to Chief Technology Officer, responsible for carrying out the company’s key technology initiatives and vision. Before Shutterstock, Peter was the Global Head of Application Development and Platform Technology at Thomson Reuters. In his free time, Silvio enjoys doing DIY projects and spending time online gaming with his kids. He currently resides in Staten Island with his three children.

Meghan Lapides

Chief People Officer

Meghan leads the People team at SmartAsset, where she drives the company’s People strategy and oversees talent acquisition, leadership development, total rewards, employee experience and engagement, organizational effectiveness, and culture. With more than 20 years of experience in human resources and operational leadership, Meghan has helped organizations scale through periods of rapid growth while building high-performing, engaged teams. She partners closely with leaders across the organization to develop talent, strengthen leadership, and create a culture that enables both employees and the business to thrive. Meghan lives in New York with her husband and three boys.

Brian Bourque

Chief Marketing Officer

Brian Bourque brings more than 20 years of marketing experience to SmartAsset, where he leads the marketing team across consumer, advisor, performance and brand initiatives. As an early employee, he has played a pivotal role in driving SmartAsset’s growth through innovative marketing strategies, including creation of the now-legendary brand avatar, Buck. Brian lives in New York with his two children.

Roopesh Varier

Chief Data & AI Officer

Roopesh Varier leads SmartAsset’s Data & AI strategy, overseeing analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence applications and data platforms. Since joining the company, he has built and scaled the Data & AI organization while expanding the use of data-driven decision-making across every aspect of the business. With more than 25 years of experience spanning multiple industries, Roopesh brings a unique blend of technical expertise, innovation and business strategy to the organization. In addition to his role at SmartAsset, he advises startups and teaches courses in AI and analytics at UC Berkeley. Roopesh lives in the Bay Area with his wife and two sons.

Bryan Vivona

Vice President of Sales & Account Management

Bryan Vivona serves as SmartAsset’s Vice President of Sales & Account Management, where he leads the teams responsible for new business acquisition and client relationship management across SmartAsset AMP’s Retail and Enterprise offerings. With more than 15 years of sales, client-facing and financial services experience, Bryan has played a key role in driving revenue growth and building long-term partnerships with clients. Prior to joining SmartAsset in 2018, he held assistant vice president roles across multiple sales and trading desks at Credit Suisse. A native of Long Island, New York, and graduate of Elon University, Bryan lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife and daughter.

Ed McTernan

Chief of Staff

Ed McTernan serves as SmartAsset’s Chief of Staff, where he partners closely with leadership to drive operational excellence, strategic alignment and execution across the organization. In this role, he helps coordinate priorities across teams, optimize business processes and tackle complex organizational challenges that support the company’s growth and long-term success. Prior to becoming Chief of Staff, Ed led initiatives focused on revenue optimization, improving company margins and strengthening the business’s unit economics. Ed lives in Seattle, Washington, with his wife.

Buck is your guide to financial clarity. The most intelligent donkey you’ll ever meet, he has a sharp mind and eye for what truly matters. Buck connects discerning individuals with fiduciary financial advisors who bring clarity, confidence and long-term strategy. When not connecting consumers with advisors, Buck can be found racing vintage cars and fly-fishing in remote rivers.
